Case Study 4: Promoting Local Artisans & Green Diwali Initiative
Challenge:
Small artisans and potters often struggle with low visibility, lack of market access, and declining sales during festive seasons dominated by large-scale
commercial goods.
Opsis Intervention:
In 2016, Opsis Foundation launched the “Green and Local Diwali Campaign” to support artisans while promoting sustainable celebrations.
Initiatives included:
• Helping artisans participate in local trade fairs and exhibitions.
• Connecting potters to online and offline markets.
• Running awareness drives in major cities for eco-friendly Diwali celebrations.
Outcome:
• 20+ artisans supported in showcasing their sustainable products.
• 500+ potters from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh gained direct market access, increasing their seasonal sales.
• Green Diwali Awareness Campaigns reached seven major Indian cities, encouraging eco-conscious and locally supportive festivities.
“Our earthen lamps reached customers across Delhi and Lucknow. For the first time, we sold out completely before Diwali.”
