Empowering Farmers Through Scientific & Organic Agriculture
Case Study 2: Empowering Farmers Through Scientific & Organic Agriculture
Challenge: Farmers in several Indian states continued to rely on outdated techniques, facing declining soil fertility, low yields, and rising input costs. Many were unaware of modern tools, sustainable farming practices, and government schemes.
Opsis Intervention: Opsis Foundation organized scientific and organic farming seminars in partnership with agricultural experts and local Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
Workshops focused on:
  • Soil testing and crop rotation.
  • Use of organic manure and herbal pesticides.
  • Drip irrigation and water conservation techniques.
  • Market linkage and value addition.
Outcome:
  • 1,000+ farmers trained across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana.
  • Average income of participating farmers increased by 25–30% within one cropping season.
  • Over 100 acres transitioned to organic and low-input farming methods.
“After Opsis’ training, I started using organic compost instead of chemicals. My soil quality improved, and so did my profits.” — Ramesh Patel, Farmer, Azamgarh District (UP)
