OPSIS Prayatn – Mental Health Awareness & Early Detection
Challenge:
Mental health issues remain stigmatized and under-diagnosed, especially in small urban communities. Many patients fail to receive timely support, leading to long-term health challenges.
Opsis Intervention:
Opsis Foundation set up Opsis Prayatn, a hospital-based initiative in Chennai, with Dr. Maria Josephine, focusing on:
• Early detection and prevention of mental health disorders.
• Counseling sessions for stress, anxiety, and depression.
• Awareness programs for families, schools, and workplaces.
Outcome:
• 1,500+ individuals screened for mental health concerns.
• 500+ patients provided counseling and therapeutic support.
• Increased community awareness and reduced stigma around mental health.
Participant Voice:
“The counseling sessions at Opsis Prayatn helped me understand and manage my anxiety. I feel hopeful for the first time in years.”
